BCN Biosciences is currently in collaboration with the University of California Los Angeles and the Center for Medical Countermeasures against Radiation Risk (CMCR, The UCLA Center for Biological Radioprotectors). This collaboration is for the purposes of developing novel small molecule drugs that can protect normal human tissues from damaging or lethal radiation (radio-mitigation).
This collaboration has resulted in a series of highly novel small molecule leads obtained by screening proprietary libraries with multiple phenotypic endpoints such as cellular clonogenic survival, DNA damage, among other targets along with animal survival after exposure to lethal radiation.
The intent of this collaboration is to not only to reduce the rising threat of public use and misuse of radioactive material but to make the world a healthier place.
